Canon codes its cartridges in pairs — a pigment black (the PG or PGI) and a colour (the CL or CLI). Check the label on your current cartridge or your printer model, then jump straight to your range:

• PG-540 & CL-541 — the workhorse pair for PIXMA MG and TS home printers
• PG-545 & CL-546 — later TS and TR models; XL versions available for heavier use
• PGI-580 & CLI-581 — the five- and six-ink systems in newer PIXMA TS models, including our best-selling XXL cartridges
• PGI-550 & CLI-551 — still going strong in thousands of MG and iP printers

Standard, XL or XXL — which is worth it?

If you print more than the odd page, XL and XXL cartridges are almost always the better buy. They cost a little more up front but hold far more ink, so your cost-per-page drops and you're not back at the checkout every fortnight.
